Brad Ostash is currently an independent Business Management Consultant and Quality and Trainer and Lead Auditor working with TRC. He has over 30 years experience in Quality Management including hundreds of second and third party assessments to a wide variety of quality standards. Brad also conducts Internal Auditor, Lead Auditor, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Failure Mode & Effect Analysis (FMEA), ISO Awareness, AS9100 Awareness and Transition Training, and has trained hundreds of students over this 30 year period. Brad assists small, medium and large organizations in developing internal Business Management Systems, in support of various International Quality Standards.
Prior to joining TRC., he was employed by ICS, TUV Canada and Deloitte & Touch Quality Registrar Inc. as a Lead Quality Systems Assessor and AIEA, providing ISO9000 and AS9100 registration and training services. During his five and one half years in this role he was responsible for performing and/or managing hundreds of ISO and AS9100 assessments. These assessments include numerous local, North American first registrations in several industry sectors.
Prior to joining Deloitte & Touche QRI, was employed by KPMG Quality Registrar Inc. as a Lead Quality Systems Assessor, providing ISO9000 registration and training services. During his two and one half years in this role he was responsible for performing and/or managing over 200 ISO assessments.
Prior to KPMG, Brad was employed with New Holland North America as a Supplier Quality Assistance Engineer. He was the Western Regional Representative for the administration of the QUALITAS program (QS Equivalent – ANFIA) and served as liaison to the New Holland, Pennsylvania corporate offices. In this position he was responsible for supplier quality system assessments, product audits, process audits, training – system development, FMEA application, SPC implementation, advanced quality planning, inspection, quality cost analysis and assisting the supply base to achieve continuous improvement goals. In this capacity, Brad dealt with a wide range of products and services in the vehicle manufacturing industry. These included many types of metal fabrication, welding, plastics, glass, fiberglass, hardware, electronics, wiring, hydraulics, vehicle assembly, and finished, semi-finished raw castings, forgings, and rolled and extruded mill products etc…. In addition, Brad was a member of various design teams associated tractor component and vehicle improvement objectives.
Other highlights of Brad’s career include 12 years as a Quality Assurance Engineer in the aerospace/aircraft industry (Rolls Royce Group). Responsible for supplier system, and product assessment for aeroengine, airframe, rocket and missile programs. Conducted approximately 200 assessments throughout North America and Europe against the requirements of MIL-I-45208, MIL-Q-9858, CQC-103 (Rolls Royce plc, AQAP-1,2,3,4, ISO9001,2, CSA Z-299.1,.2. Supplier capability/facility assessments – plastics, machining, metal fabrication, assembly, R & O, superplastic forming, hydra forming, forgings, castings, assembly, hydraulics, welding, electronics, electro mechanical. Develop and implement cost effective product/process verification plans, maintain the approved suppliers list. Measure, analyse and report on all elements of supplier performance to initiate, promote and implement corrective action. Coordinate and perform source inspection activities. Assist procurement in the selection of suppliers. Investigate supplier nonconformances and recommend disposition. Determine the need for, develop and prepare procedures and company work instructions.
Brad is a specialist in the development and conversion of existing quality systems having actively participated in the implementation of several transitions of military and commercial standards, successfully integrating the requirements for a Transport Canada Approved Manufacturer (AWM 561 and FAR 21) into an ISO 9001 system, and assisted the company in obtaining successful recognition as a Transport Canada Approved Maintenance Organization ( AWM 573 and FAR 145) and subsequent acceptance as a Bell Approved Maintenance Facility. He participated in product and process design team activity and assisted in the development and implementation of numerous other standards such as Mil-Q-9858, MIL-I-45208, Boeing D1-9000, Rolls Royce CQC-103, GE S1000, Transport Canada AMO and other similar quality initiatives including compliance to AS9100.
